  • SUMMARY
  • The Supplier Development Specialist is responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and improving the operational performance and efficiency of suppliers within the logistics network. This role plays a key part in driving compliance to scanning requirements, executing improvement initiatives, and ensuring suppliers adhere to agreed standards for quality, timeliness, and process execution. The Specialist collaborates closely with internal teams, carriers, and suppliers to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions.

  • Job Description/Responsibilities

1. Supplier Performance Monitoring

  • * Track supplier adherence to KPIs, documentation accuracy, scanning compliance, and detention.
  • * Analyze trends in performance data to identify systemic issues or opportunities for improvement.
  • * Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with logistics service expectations.

2. Efficiency and Improvement Initiatives

  • * Lead and support initiatives aimed at reducing waste, dwell time, and process inefficiencies at supplier sites.
  • * Develop and deploy standardized work instructions, supplier engagement strategies, and continuous improvement roadmaps.
  • * Partner with internal Quality, Operations, and Account Management teams to develop supplier-specific action plans.

3. Scanning and Visibility Compliance

  • * Ensure suppliers are aligned with scanning requirements and are utilizing systems and tools correctly (e.g., dock scanning, ASN updates).
  • * Drive adoption and correct usage of scanning technology by conducting onboarding, training, and troubleshooting support.
  • * Investigate and escalate scanning failures with root cause analysis and structured corrective actions.

4. Supplier Engagement & Communication

  • * Serve as the primary contact for assigned suppliers regarding performance-related matters.
  • * Facilitate structured feedback, communicate expectations, and escalate critical issues internally when necessary.
  • * Build constructive, long-term relationships that support mutual goals of operational excellence.

* Education

  • * Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).

* Experience

  • * 2+ years of experience in logistics, supplier quality, or operations management.

* Technical Skills

  • * Strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • * Ability to communicate professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders at all levels.
  • * Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma principles is helpful but not required.
