POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Small Engine and Diesel Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a variety of small engines, diesel-powered commercial equipment and automobiles. This includes but is not limited to: cars and trucks, golf carts, lawn mowers, generators, chainsaws, tractors, construction machinery, commercial vehicles, and other mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues in small engines and diesel equipment.
Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, spark plug replacement, lubrication, brakes and suspension.
Inspect and test engines and systems using diagnostic tools and manual techniques.
Reassemble and test the equipment after repairs.
Document repairs and maintenance performed, including parts used and labor time.
Maintain detailed service records and inventory.
Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and workspaces.
Communicate with department managers regarding repair needs and timelines.
Routinely inspect equipment on the property for repairs and service needed.
Understand the importance of vehicle and equipment safety.
Maintain a basic inventory of common parts (oil, spark plugs, filters etc.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid driver’s license required.
Automotive and small engine repair experience required.
Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines, diesel systems, and mechanical components.
Strong knowledge of diagnostic tools.
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics.
Good communication and customer service skills .
Sense of urgency.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing.
Commitment to providing exceptional results and teamwork.
Ability to work under pressure with a high level of patience and professionalism.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Ability to lead by example and foster a positive team culture.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Reliability and punctuality are critical.
Dependable and consistent in attendance and performance.
Physical ability to stand, sit, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and push/pull/lift items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, auditory focus, and visual attention.
Due to the natural environment at Ojo Spa Resorts, all staff must be comfortable outdoors performing physical activities, and be able to navigate uneven ground, diverse terrain, multiple stairs, and be prepared to work in unpredictable weather conditions.
