  • At Eni, we are looking for a Senior Corporate Accountant within Eni Mexico, S.de R.L. de C.V. in Mexico City. You will be responsible for supporting core processes in accounting, financial analysis and internal reporting of financial statements. You will perform general accounting functions, ensuring that all activities related to the accounting books are carried out in accordance with Eni procedures and comply with recognised accounting principles. You will also ensure that reporting requirements are met for each closing period - monthly, quarterly and annually.

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in the general ledger, maintaining correct account balances and preparing journal entries for various account groups, such as G&A, assets, trade and other receivables and payables, costs and charges, revenues and other income, among others.
  • Play an active role in month-end, quarter-end, half-year and year-end closing processes, performing account analysis and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies, ensuring the accuracy of accounting data.
  • Ensure all transactions are supported by a clear audit trail and perform internal SOX controls in accordance with the frequency of the closing processes.
  • Be highly involved in the preparation of working papers to support the accounting process in compliance with Mexican Financial Information Standards (NIF) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Attend all company audits, including internal audits and external audits conducted by local authorities, joint venture partners, statutory auditors, and other regulatory or contractual entities, ensuring timely provision of information, compliance with requirements, and resolution of audit findings.
  • Identify opportunities and assist in implementing continuous improvement initiatives within the accounting function to enhance process efficiency and scalability.
  • Provide feedback and conduct quality checks on deliverables prepared individually, by peers, or by junior analysts.
  • Cooperate and liaise with other functions and departments as an essential part of fulfilling job responsibilities.
  • Support all additional requirements issued by the Mexican authorities.
  • Demonstrate and promote Eni’s principles and values in day-to-day interactions.
  • Carry out any other ad hoc duties as required.

Skills and experience required

  • Degree in Accounting, Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Relevant accounting experience; experience in Oil & Gas Joint Venture Operated Accounting is preferable.
  • Experience in Accounting and Compliance, ideally within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Knowledge of Mexican Financial Information Standards (NIF) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Familiarity with Mexican tax regulations (SHCP, SAT, SENER, FMP, among others).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Leadership skills to coordinate monthly closures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a collaborative approach to issue resolution.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of managing and prioritising multiple deadlines effectively while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Strong communication skills in both Spanish and English (advanced level), with the ability to collaborate effectively across various functional and business teams, and to manage stakeholder communications across organisational units, both verbally and in writing.
  • Adaptable and flexible when faced with new challenges, shifting priorities, and high-pressure periods.
  • Demonstrates initiative and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong aptitude for financial ERP systems and IT tools.
