Role Description
Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI research group to engage experts with advanced training in mathematics. This cutting-edge project focuses on strengthening AI systems’ reasoning capabilities through rigorous problem-solving and theorem-based evaluation. You will be applying graduate-level expertise to assess and validate complex mathematical reasoning.
- Solve and evaluate challenging mathematics problems across diverse fields
- Review AI-generated proofs and solutions for correctness and rigor
- Provide structured feedback to improve mathematical reasoning models
Qualifications
- Recent PhD in Mathematics (within past 4 years) OR PhD candidate ≥3 years into program (typically ≥4th year from undergrad entry, or ≥3rd year with master’s entry)
- Enrolled in or graduated from a top 30 mathematics program
- Ideally active in research/academia
- Strong background in advanced problem-solving, with ability to clearly articulate reasoning, reference theorems, and identify gaps in writing
