- The Business Systems Manager demonstrates the following competencies and observable behaviors to ensure successful delivery of CIMMYT’s ERP initiatives.
- Deep hands-on understanding of Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Finance & Operations/Customer Engagement), data model, extensions, and ALM.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Power BI/Fabric for enterprise analytics, data modeling, DAX, and governance.
- Microsoft Azure services (App Service, Logic Apps, Functions, Service Bus, Key Vault, Azure AD/Entra ID) and DevOps pipelines (CI/CD).
- Database and integration: SQL Server, data warehousing concepts, REST/JSON, OData, SOAP, and secure API design.
- JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern front-end frameworks for ERP-related customizations and portals.
- Ideally, working knowledge of SAP Concur (expense, travel, invoice) integrations and Sapience platform configuration and data flows.
- Builds a high-performing development team; sets clear goals, mentors, and conducts constructive performance feedback.
- Creates an inclusive, learning-oriented culture; encourages peer reviews, coding standards, and knowledge sharing.
- Balances workload and prioritization; ensures sustainable delivery pace and staff wellbeing.
- Promotes a DevOps culture emphasizing collaboration, continuous feedback, automation, and learning across internal teams and external partners, reducing handoffs and accelerating value delivery.
- Defines and controls Scope of Work (SoW) for outsourced partners; ensures deliverables meet quality, timeline, and budget.
- Challenges estimates/quotations using effort baselines; negotiates fair rates.
- Enforces SLAs and acceptance criteria; drives issue resolution and continuous improvement with vendors.
- Works closely with the Solution Architect and the PMO on plans, dependencies, and milestones; maintains transparent progress reporting.
- Maintains a centralized Change Request and Problem resolution backlog, commonly used by all parties involved, and provides updates on progress made against it resolution. Custodian of the Change Request and Problem Resolution Procedures.
- Applies Agile/iterative practices and ERP release management; ensures robust testing and UAT sign‑off.
- Owns risk/issue logs, mitigations, and change control; protects scope while enabling necessary change.
- Drives a DevOps operating model that integrates Agile development practices with Lean operations, fostering shared accountability across development, testing, release, and post-production support.
- Adheres to organizational standards, secure-by-design principles, and DevOps governance practices, ensuring traceability from backlog to deployment and production monitoring.
- Ensures compliance with data protection and audit requirements; maintains documentation and traceability.
- Implements role-based access and environment segregation (dev/test/uat/prod).
- Identifies optimization opportunities in processes, cost, and architecture; pilots modern capabilities (e.g., Fabric pipelines).
- Promotes reusable components, patterns, and documentation to accelerate future delivery.
- Drives internal communities of practice and training paths for the team.
- Uses DevOps and Lean metrics to identify bottlenecks, reduce cycle time, and continuously improve ERP delivery throughput and reliability.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar managerial role within ERP development.
- Deep knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365, Power BI/Fabric, Azure services, SQL Server, .NET framework, JavaScript, and API integrations.
- Experience with SAP Concur and Sapience platforms.
- Strong leadership skills and ability to manage both internal teams and external vendors.
- Proven track record in managing budgets, timelines, and quality deliverables.
- Excellent collaboration skills with PMO and other stakeholders.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
