Rate: ~$25/hour (or per small project/update based on that rate) Time Commitment: Minimum 20 hrs/week over next three weeks Duration: 3–4 week intensive sprint, with potential for ongoing part-time work afterward Start: ASAP — hiring this week (mid-December) Location preference: U.S. and Canada-based candidates strongly preferred. *We’re potentially open to exceptional candidates based elsewhere but availability during U.S. business hours and strong written communication are required). About the Project JamNet is a growing platform connecting journalists with brands and PR professionals through callouts, press trips, and partnerships. The website has been built in WordPress and much of the core functionality is already in place, but the site is not live yet and still needs final feature completion, cleanup, and stabilization before launch in mid to late January. The site is approximately 90% complete, and we’re looking for a detail-oriented junior developer / technical assistant to help push it across the finish line over the next 3–4 weeks. You’ll work closely with our technical lead and another junior developer to support a short, high-focus pre-launch sprint focused on polish, UX fixes, permissions logic, and payments-related workflows. This is a great fit for someone early in their career who wants real product responsibility, hands-on experience working inside an existing WordPress codebase, exposure to real-world UX and payments logic, and strong mentorship. What You’ll Work On You’ll help implement and refine existing functionality, including: ~Cleaning up dashboards and user-role permissions ~Hiding or exposing features based on user type ~Fixing UI/UX bugs (confirmation states, scrolling issues) ~Implementing profile pages and internal linking ~Supporting payment logic (tokens, carts, refunds) ~Copy/label fixes and small front-end polish ~Bug tracking, QA, and documentation You will not be expected to design architecture alone or make major product decisions — this is execution and implementation work with guidance. Required Background ~1–3 years experience in web development or related technical work ~Experience working in WordPress sites ~Comfortable reading and modifying existing codebases ~Familiarity with: ~~~JavaScript ~~~Basic front-end frameworks ~~~APIs / databases (at a junior level is fine) ~Strong attention to detail ~Comfortable working from task boards and time estimates ~Clear communicator — especially when something is unclear or broken Availability Requirements ~Must be available at least 20 hours/week for the next 3–4 weeks ~Ideally available for more during the initial sprint ~Must have some availability over the holiday period (Not required to work on Christmas or New Year’s - just need to have general availability over the holidays as we wrap up this project) How We Work ~Transparent task tracking ~Time estimates + actuals ~Short check-ins 1–2x/week ~Supportive, low-ego environment ~Clear scope and expectations To Apply Please include: ~A brief introduction ~Examples of recent web or technical work (GitHub, site links, etc.) Answer the following questions: 1. Have you worked inside an existing WordPress site before? Please briefly describe what you were responsible for (for example: admin work, front-end tweaks, user roles, fixing bugs, etc.). 2. This role involves working inside an existing codebase rather than building something from scratch. Can you share an example of a time you joined an existing project and what you worked on? 3. This is a 3–4 week, fast-moving sprint with at least 20 hours per week. What does your availability look like over the next month, including the holiday period?
