- SUMMARY
- The Concrete finisher smooth and finishes freshly poured concrete, apply curing or surface treatments and install maintain and restore various masonry structures such as floors, ceilings, sidewalks, roads and patios.
- SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- • None
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
- Levelling the top surface of freshly poured concrete on floors, walls, ceilings or sidewalks.
- Operating a power vibrator to compress concrete.
- Applying hardening and sealing compounds to cure the surface of concrete.
- Waterproofing, damp-proofing and restoring concrete surfaces.
- Installing anchor bolts, steel plates and other fixtures in freshly poured concrete.
- Hours are weather-dependent.
- Overtime is often required because concrete finishers cannot leave a project in the middle and return to it the next day.
- Number of additional hours you work each week depends on the construction sector and region your work in and will vary from one job to the next.
- The work is often fast-paced and strenuous.
- Lifting heavy materials.
- Concrete Demo (when needed).
- Subgrade Placement.
- Reinforcement Placement.
- Concrete Placement.
- Form Setting and Removal.
- Site Clean Up.
- Prolonged periods of time bending and kneeling.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
- • Ability to understand directions and read blueprints
- • Thoroughly understand of the characteristics of concrete and ability to make plans based on that knowledge.
- • Understanding of and ability to use tools related to cement.
- • Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade.
- • Works well as part of a team
- • Ability to complete respirator fit and breathability test.
- • Obtain and maintain Q Clearance
- Qualifications
- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- • High School diploma or equivalent
- • Successful completion of vocational school or technical college or apprenticeship program
- • 3 years of experience via on-the-job training required.
- • Maintain a valid New Mexico driver’s license
