- Position Summary
- The Clinical Director serves as a vital member of SFRC’s extended leadership team and is responsible for ensuring clinical integrity, operational alignment, and regulatory readiness across the organization’s residential, outpatient, and specialty care programs. Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer (CCO), the Clinical Director provides day-to-day oversight of clinical documentation, cross-functional clinical staffing, and supervisory infrastructure while supporting a culture of trauma-informed, evidence-based, and recovery-centered care.
- This position ensures that SFRC’s clinical services meet the highest standards of quality and compliance—partnering with CQI, HR, and operational teams to uphold licensure, accreditation, and payer documentation requirements. The Clinical Director models SFRC’s values in action, leads with compassion and accountability, and helps anchor clinical excellence across a dynamic and mission-driven behavioral health organization.
- Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership & Supervision
- Lead the implementation of high-quality clinical practices that reflect trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based care models.
- Provide direct supervision to clinical supervisors and support their professional growth, documentation accuracy, and team cohesion.
- In partnership with the CCO, serve as a clinical thought partner—co-shaping treatment models, therapeutic modalities, and care coordination strategies across SFRC’s continuum.
- Clinical Documentation & Compliance
- Oversee all clinical documentation workflows, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, discharge summaries, and utilization reviews.
- Ensure documentation practices are compliant with payer standards, accreditation bodies (e.g., CARF), state and federal regulations, and organizational expectations.
- Lead chart audits, documentation quality improvement efforts, and corrective action planning in collaboration with CQI and compliance teams.
- Cross-Functional Staffing & Integration
- Manage clinical staffing schedules across programs in partnership with HR and site-based managers to ensure adequate coverage and staff-to-client ratios.
- Coordinate cross-program referrals, care transitions, and clinical case conferencing to ensure client continuity and quality of care.
- Support interdisciplinary integration with medical, recovery support, and case management teams.
- Regulatory & Accreditation Standards
- Serve as the clinical lead for regulatory and accreditation readiness in partnership with the compliance, risk management, and CQI teams.
- Support internal policy development, training, and implementation around clinical best practice, documentation, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in internal reviews and external site visits, surveys, and audits to ensure SFRC remains in good standing with licensing and accrediting bodies.
- Quality Improvement & Culture Building
- Work with the CQI team to identify, analyze, and act on trends related to service quality, client outcomes, and documentation accuracy.
- Champion a culture of learning, accountability, and continuous improvement across all clinical teams.
- Support the integration of client feedback, staff insights, and emerging best practices into clinical program development.
- Leadership Presence & Strategic Partnership
- Actively participate in leadership team meetings, retreats, and strategic planning discussions.
- Understand the broader organizational ecosystem and the leadership role that clinical integrity plays in SFRC’s mission and sustainability.
- Model professionalism, empathy, ethical leadership, and respect across all levels of the organization.
- Requirements
- Qualifications
- Licensed clinician in New Mexico (LCSW, LPCC, LMFT, or equivalent) in good standing.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible clinical experience, including supervisory and/or administrative leadership roles.
- Deep understanding of Medicaid, managed care, CCBHC, and accreditation standards (e.g., CARF, ASAM, SAMHSA).
- Demonstrated success leading clinical teams in a multi-site, culturally diverse environment.
- Experience managing documentation and regulatory compliance in behavioral health or addiction treatment settings.
- Strong communicator, systems thinker, and culture carrier—able to both challenge and support with grace.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in residential, outpatient, and/or crisis service settings.
- Familiarity with New Mexico’s behavioral health environment, including Native, rural, and frontier communities.
- Bilingual (Spanish, Diné, or Zuni) preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic health records and practice management systems.
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
