Role Overview As a Business Product Owner (BPO) at The Baldwin Group, you will serve as the bridge between business goals and technical execution. You will own the product backlog for one or more value streams aligned with the client journey (e.g., Consideration, Application, Placement, Service & Support, Retention & Growth). You will translate and decompose strategic product vision into chunks of impactful work for delivery teams. The ideal candidate will thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environments, where priorities may shift rapidly and direction may be ambiguous. Success in this role requires exceptional stakeholder management skills, as you will collaborate with the Product Manager to align diverse interests and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Key Responsibilities Backlog Ownership & Execution Own and continuously groom a clear, prioritized product backlog based on the product strategy, business outcomes, and user needs. Write user stories and define acceptance criteria that clearly articulate client and colleague needs. Participate in and lead sprint planning, refinement, and review ceremonies with cross-functional agile teams. Ensure backlog visibility, transparency, and clarity for all stakeholders and contributors. Manage competing priorities and deliver results under high pressure, especially when faced with shifting timelines, regulatory changes, or challenging market conditions. Stakeholder Alignment & Feedback Integration Proactively manage stakeholder expectations by communicating progress, risks, and changes with clarity and credibility. Build trusted relationships with internal and external partners to achieve project milestones and resolve issues as they arise. Act as the voice of the client and colleague in daily stand-ups and development cycles, integrating insights from VC² feedback loops. Align backlog items with strategic objectives defined by Product Managers and value stream leads. Serve as the primary point of contact between developers, designers, and stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding and smooth execution. Delivery Quality & Value Assurance Validate that features delivered meet defined user needs and deliver measurable value. Accept or reject completed stories based on pre-defined acceptance criteria and feedback from end users. Ensure usability and business viability before features are deployed, collaborating closely with design and engineering teams. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement Work with cross-disciplinary teams (product managers, designers, engineers, client managers) to iterate on solutions that improve user experience and business outcomes. Drive iterative improvements by running lightweight MVP tests, gathering feedback, and prioritizing enhancements accordingly. Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, reflection, and performance improvement within the agile team. Qualifications Required: 3+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role in an agile software development environment. Proven experience delivering in environments characterized by uncertainty, complex challenges, and time-sensitive initiatives. Deep familiarity with agile and lean product development principles. Experience writing user stories and managing product backlogs in tools like Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational capabilities. Strong problem-solving skills, resilience, and adaptability. Preferred: Experience working in insurance, financial services, or B2B SaaS domains. Experience with LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude…) and AI-native tools like v0, Airtable, Loveable, etc.. Exposure to platform-based product development, Salesforce, Applied EPIC, etc.). Understanding of product discovery methods (e.g., problem framing, customer interviews, usability testing). Ability to evaluate features based on feasibility, value, usability, and business alignment. Key Success Metrics On-time, high-quality delivery of features aligned to backlog priorities. Quantified user satisfaction and business impact through product KPIs. Stakeholder alignment and reduced rework through effective backlog and scope management.
